Guardian Ad Litem

If you have ever been involved with legal proceedings where you have heard the term “Guardian Ad Litem,” you are most likely wondering who they are, what they do and how they affect your case.

A Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) is a court appointed attorney that observes an individual or minor child(ren) throughout the duration of a case. The sole purpose of a GAL is to act as an advocate and provide an unbiased, third-party perspective to the presiding judge while having the specified individual’s best interests in mind.

In order to determine the same, Armstrong Law PLLC works diligently to review the case, investigate surrounding circumstances, prepare reports, meet with the parties, take into consideration their wishes and environmental factors and deliver these findings to the court. It is important to note that the court is not bound by the recommendations of a GAL, but they often hold a heavy influence on the final outcome of a case.
